Experience the Elan Valley

For people who live a greater distance from Elan Valley, there can be real barriers to getting out into the great outdoors.  This project will specifically support groups of people from the Birmingham area to connect with Elan Valley. Through facilitation and the provision of a package of accommodation and other support, the aim is to provide life-changing and life-enhancing opportunities for people to spend time in nature, developing an explicit connection with what the environment does for them – through the provision of their water.

This project will provide retreat packages to enable harder to reach groups from the Birmingham area to connect with the Elan Valley.  As well as having a one to two night stay, there will be bespoke activities arranged for each group.

This project will specifically support groups of people who may not normally visit the countryside, but who have links to the Elan Valley through the supply of their water.

The aim is to run 30 day and night retreats with bespoke activity sessions each year.  The hope is that 1,000 people from harder to reach groups in Birmingham will have enjoyed and benefitted from an ‘Experience Elan’ weekend. Visit the Tir Coed website for more information.
